About Us

We are a team of researchers, designers, and developers lead by professors and women’s health PHD’s and MD’s who have all come together to achieve one unified goal.  An easy-to-use, research-based tool to help you strive for a healthier, happier, and easier pregnancy for both you and your developing child.

Our approach stems from decades of scientific research.  We are aiming to make this research easily accessible, understandable and actionable for mothers striving for a healthy diet during pregnancy. The desired outcome of this approach is a reduction in known, harmful substances getting to developing babies while reducing pregnancy sickness for pregnant women.

The beta version of our mobile application will be available for both iPhone and Android in Q1 2019. Please send us an email if you would like to be notified upon release.

Our Story

Mommy Menu came to be after Dr. Brown had been teaching courses in Child and Lifespan development to both undergraduates and graduate students. Over a decade later he found out he was going to be a father and delved even deeper into pregnancy and fetal development research.

Dr. Brown started to notice a peculiar pattern between what commercial pregnancy books were covering and what the textbooks were covering. There were many omissions from all types of literary sources. Struggling to find sufficient answers to feed his curiosity he had no choice but to carry out a serious literature review on pregnancy and related science, with a focus on teratogens. This entailed organizing and summarizing literature into 12 different categories that are important for a healthy pregnancy, then creating a college honors course to delve further. HON 299: Human Pregnancy dug deep into the literature and scientific research around teratogens and their link to a healthy and happy pregnancy. Toward the end of the course, Dr. Brown received feedback from the students and came to the conclusion that the science behind a healthy pregnancy is not easily accessible, yet. After a few months of research and pondering the idea for Mommy Menu was conceived.
